Course Outline and Content

What is the ECDL? (European Computer Driving Licence) 
ECDL is an IT qualification issued by the British Computer Society for computer users that is recognised by employers throughout Europe. ECDL contains 7 modules covering essential IT fundamentals and the most frequently used computer applications.

Course Aims and Objectives
1. To prepare delegates to pass this module of the ECDL qualification by providing them with the necessary skills, knowledge and techniques.
2. To provide essential IT skills that will boost delegates' confidence, understanding and performance. 

Style of Training
A structured, hands-on, tutor-led session for each module using practical examples and exercises. In addition to syllabus material, delegates will also be given mock tests to practise and valuable tips to help improve their performance during the test.

What level is the ECDL?
Introduction to intermediate level. (Starting with the basics whilst also covering a number of more in-depth topics).

Who should attend?
1. New users who would like a structured learning program and an IT qualification.
2. Self-taught users who would like an IT qualification and to fill the gaps in their knowledge.
3. Competent users who would like an IT qualification to show for their skills.

Prerequisites
No previous experience is required, however, basic computer skills and experience working with applications within a Windows environment would be an advantage.

A typical ECDL course for this module would cover the following topics:

Working with Text   Working with Bulleted Slides
Add a text box – adding text to objects   Using bullets and sub bullets
Entering & editing text – formatting text   Change the style & colour of bullets
Apply a shadow effect to text   Change the spacing between bullets
Text alignment – moving a textbox    
Delete a text box   Working with Table Slides
Change line and paragraph spacing   Insert a table slide - create a table
Using the Word Art facility   Customise the table's appearance
     
Setting Up Slides and Slideshows   Working with Chart Slides
Apply a design template   Insert a chart slide
Change a slide's background colour   Change a chart's colours
Zoom to resize - Save Zoom   Customise the appearance
Change slide layout   Change the type of chart type
Change slide orientation    
Duplicate a slide   Working with Organisation Slides
Change the slide order   Insert an organisational chart
Delete a slide - hide a slide   Add a box to an organisation chart
Add presenter’s notes   Remove a box from the chart
Use the spell check facility   Change it's layout & structure

Formatting text on the slide master   Apply a slide transition effect

Insert an image into slide master   Customise options – effective use
     
Working with Objects & Images   Using Slide Footers
Insert an object from drawing toolbar   Apply a slide footer
Insert an image from a file / Clip Art   Insert a date into a slide footer
Resize an object manually   Apply automatic slide numbering
Resize image to exact measurements    
Change an object's fill colour   Printing Options
Customise the object's appearance   Print Handouts with multiple sides
Copy and paste an object or image   Print Speaker's notes
Aligning an image   Print in Outline view
Group / Ungroup objects and images    
Change the layer order of images   Saving & File Management
Change an object's direction using flip   Save a presentation as a template
Change an object's direction using rotate   Save as different file type
