Course Outline and Content

What is the ECDL? (European Computer Driving Licence) 
ECDL is an IT qualification issued by the British Computer Society for computer users that is recognised by employers throughout Europe. ECDL contains 7 modules covering essential IT fundamentals and the most frequently used computer applications.

Course Aims and Objectives
1. To prepare delegates to pass this module of the ECDL qualification by providing them with the necessary skills, knowledge and techniques.
2. To provide essential IT skills that will boost delegates' confidence, understanding and performance. 

Style of Training
A structured, hands-on, tutor-led session for each module using practical examples and exercises. In addition to syllabus material, delegates will also be given mock tests to practise and valuable tips to help improve their performance during the test.

What level is the ECDL?
Introduction to intermediate level. (Starting with the basics whilst also covering a number of more in-depth topics).

Who should attend?
1. New users who would like a structured learning program and an IT qualification.
2. Self-taught users who would like an IT qualification and to fill the gaps in their knowledge.
3. Competent users who would like an IT qualification to show for their skills.

Prerequisites
No previous experience is required, however, basic computer skills and experience working with applications within a Windows environment would be an advantage.

Planning a database   Enforcing referential integrity

Creating a New Database

Understanding the objects window   Creating a simple query
Understanding data view and design view   Using criteria in queries
    Adding / removing fields
Creating Tables    
Creating a table - entering field names   Creating Forms
Formatting fields and attributes   Creating a simple form
Saving a tables   Customising colours fonts and styles
Setting the primary key   Moving and resizing field boxes
Add new fields to an existing table  
Delete fields from an existing table   Creating Reports
    Creating a simple report
Working with Data in Tables   Using grouping & sorting in a report
Navigating a table in data view   Setting the report orientation
Entering data into records - best practice   Understanding the layout of a report
Editing and deleting data   Customising colours fonts and styles
Resizing & changing the order of columns   Moving and resizing field boxes
     
Manipulating Data in Tables   Printing Options
Finding and replacing data   Printing tables, queries and reports
Sorting and filtering data   Changing print orientation
  Printing an individual record from a table
