Course Outline and Content

What is the ECDL? (European Computer Driving Licence) 
ECDL is an IT qualification issued by the British Computer Society for computer users that is recognised by employers throughout Europe. ECDL contains 7 modules covering essential IT fundamentals and the most frequently used computer applications.

Course Aims and Objectives
1. To prepare delegates to pass this module of the ECDL qualification by providing them with the necessary skills, knowledge and techniques.
2. To provide essential IT skills that will boost delegates' confidence, understanding and performance. 

Style of Training
A structured, hands-on, tutor lead session for each module using practical examples and exercises. In addition to syllabus material, delegates will also be given mock tests to practise and valuable tips to help improve their performance during the test.

What level is the ECDL?
Introduction to intermediate level. (Starting with the basics whilst also covering a number of more in-depth topics).

Who should attend?
1. New users who would like a structured learning program and an IT qualification.
2. Self-taught users who would like an IT qualification and to fill the gaps in their knowledge.
3. Competent users who would like an IT qualification to show for their skills.

Prerequisites
No previous experience is required, however, basic computer skills and experience working with applications within a Windows environment would be an advantage.

A typical ECDL course for this module would cover the following topics:

Working with Text and Numbers   More Formulas
Entering / editing text & numbers   Using the MIN formula
Deleting text   Using the MAX formula
Using AutoFill to enter text quickly   Using the COUNT formula
    Using IF statements
Copy, Cut and Paste    
Copy and paste - duplicate cell contents   Working with Rows and Columns
Cut and paste - moving cell contents   Adjusting column with / row height
    Freezing rows and columns
Working with Worksheets   Inserting / deleting rows and columns
Naming / re-naming worksheets    
Inserting / deleting worksheets   Using Headers and Footers
Change the order of worksheets   Creating headers and footers
Moving sheets to new / other workbooks   Entering and formatting test
Use the Zoom facility   Inserting page no. date & file info
     
Simple Formulas   Printing Options
Using AutoSum to add ranges of cells   Page set up - margins
Using the addition formula   Page set up - orientation
Using the subtract formula   Print gridlines - print row /column headings
Using the divide formula   Print set up portrait and landscape
Using the multiply formula   Printing - No of copies
Editing an existing formula   Printing - repeat rows at top of page
Adjust the range within an existing formula   Printing chart and data or chart only 
Replicate a formula using AutoFill   Setting the print range to fit A4 pages
    Setting the print range to fit one A4
Aligning Text and Numbers    
Align text to left, right or centre   Sorting Data
Aligning text at an angle   Sorting in ascending / descending order
Apply text wrapping    
Merging cells   Using Graphs & Charts
    Create a new graph /chart
Formatting Text and Numbers   Moving / resizing a chart
Adding borders - types of borders   Add or remove a chart title / data labels
Format a date   Change a chart's colours
Format cells as a %   Changing the type of chart
Format decimal places    
Formatting cells as currency   Saving worksheets
Formatting text colour, size and style   Saving a workbook
  Save a workbook as a new name
    Save as a new file format or template
