Course Outline and Content

What is the ECDL? (European Computer Driving Licence) 
ECDL is an IT qualification issued by the British Computer Society for computer users that is recognised by employers throughout Europe. ECDL contains 7 modules covering essential IT fundamentals and the most frequently used computer applications.

Course Aims and Objectives
1. To prepare delegates to pass this module of the ECDL qualification by providing them with the necessary skills, knowledge and techniques.
2. To provide essential IT skills that will boost delegates' confidence, understanding and performance.

Style of Training
A structured, hands-on, tutor-led session for each module using practical examples and exercises. In addition to syllabus material, delegates will also be given mock tests to practise and valuable tips to help improve their performance during the test.

What level is the ECDL?
Introduction to intermediate level. (Starting with the basics whilst also covering a number of more in-depth topics).

Who should attend?
1. New users who would like a structured learning program and an IT qualification.
2. Self-taught users who would like an IT qualification and to fill the gaps in their knowledge.
3. Competent users who would like an IT qualification to show for their skills.

Prerequisites
No previous experience is required, however, basic computer skills and experience working with applications within a Windows environment would be an advantage.

A typical ECDL course for this module would cover the following topics:

Working With Text   Using Tables
Entering, editing and deleting text   Insert a new table
Format text bold, Italics underline   Entering, editing and deleting text
Apply a border to text - format border   Change table borders colours
Apply text colour   Fill colour - shading a table
Change font size and type   Resize column width to exact size
Apply a text style   Inserting a new row or column
Applying a paragraph style   Deleting a row or column
Apply automatic hyphenation   Apply automatic numbering to a table
Inserting a symbol - Format symbol    
Using superscript and subscript   Headers and Footers
    Insert a header or footer
Copy, Cut and Paste   Insert page numbering and useful info
Using cut, copy and paste    
    Using Pictures and Images
Working with Bullet Lists   Resize image to an exact size
Enter a new bullet list   Copy and paste an image
Apply a bullet list to existing text   Insert an image from a file
Changing the style of bullet    
    Printing a Document
Positioning Text and Paragraphs   Printing options available
